Dear Clammies,

Today you are 15 weeks old! We have 22 or so more weeks until we get to hold you and freak out with two babies. I’m most fearful of the sleepless nights and sleepless days and sleepless life so treat your mom good and be sound little sleepers. We had our first specialist appointment yesterday. Your grandma went with me so she could see you both. It was a really good appointment. The doctor is really nice and the ultrasound technician was great. She did a level 4 u/s on you which basically is a really in depth look at you, your home for the time being, how you’re growing, measuring your brain, stomach, legs, arms, and anything else you would let her measure. She measured your heartbeats, Baby A was 155 and Baby B was 153, both strong, nice heartbeats. You both measure 5 inches long, 4 ounces and 15 weeks 1 day which is a couple of days ahead of your true age so you must like all of the sweets and chocolate I feed you. =) The best part of the entire ultrasound, other than watching you on “Baby TV” which is always a great experience was we finally know what you both are!!!!!! The anticipation was killing your dad and me. I promised your dad that he would be the first to know since he couldn’t actually make the appointment this time. We decided to have the technician put the results in an envelope and open it together. Of course your grandma tried to peek while the tech was scoping out your secret parts, but I made her cover her eyes. After the appointment I knew there was NO WAY I was waiting until your dad got home from work to open the envelope so I took a little trip to his work and we opened the envelope together.

*Drum roll*

Baby A is a GIRL and Baby B is a BOY. If you look back a couple of entries you’ll see this was my guess even though deep down I just knew you were both boys because I wanted a girl so badly. Lucky for us you are both perfect and we now have a son and daughter. As you know we already have your names picked out so I’ll just finalize them here. Our little beautiful Baby A daughter – Shenzie Weather Echo Barr. And our studly, rough tough Baby B son – Heaten Grey Myrick Barr. Wow, you have names. It still feels kind of weird to think of you with names. Let the shopping begin! This afternoon I ordered the first of many baby items. I won a bid on Ebay for your crib bedding. It is beautiful dragonflies – green and yellow and cream. Soon I’ll start to hound your dad to paint your room and bathroom and start setting it up. How exciting (for one of us anyhow). We are very happy and blessed and can’t wait to see you both!

Dear Clammies,

My oh my how you’ve grown. These past couple of weeks you have gone from little grapes to 4 inches long!! My belly is proof of your growth. What started out as a bump has now become a full fledge round belly. It is amazing, and wonderful, and unbelievable to be 14 ½ weeks pregnant with you two little miracles. I feel so blessed and happy. I had a horrible cold this weekend that knocked me off my feet. Your dad took really good care of me and I’m feeling much better now. As far as pregnancy symptoms goes I’ve been very lucky. I have a bloody nose everyday which is annoying, but not painful. I have growing cramps nearly every day and while lying on the couch tonight I think I felt you move!!!! It was a fluttery, bubbly feeling that lasted only a second, but one I will never forget. To feel my babies move inside me was a truly memorable, wondrous moment. Later this week we see our Perinatologist for the first time. She comes highly recommended so I hope I like her. Maybe, just maybe if you both cooperate we will get to know if you are boys and or girls. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!

Dear Clammies,

We were released from Dr. McConnell today which is a HUGE milestone. We are 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant which means we’re out of the “scary zone”. 13 weeks marks the start of the second trimester. We are 1/3 of the way to meeting you! Still not too many symptoms other than the growing by the day belly. With two of you in there it makes for a much bigger belly, much sooner. I met with our new Doctor a couple of weeks ago and really liked him. He did our first belly ultrasound, which I must say is much much better.

Sometime later this month we should be able to see what you are – boys or girls or both. I have a guess that I’ll put on record. I guess that Baby A is a girl and Baby B is a boy. Baby B is so active and moving around all of the time while Baby A just kind of sits and sleeps. Hopefully we’ll find out soon. We are so excited. I want to start shopping!  Soon, very soon!!
