Dear Clammies,
Today you are 15 weeks old! We have 22 or so more weeks until we get to hold you and freak out with two babies. I’m most fearful of the sleepless nights and sleepless days and sleepless life so treat your mom good and be sound little sleepers. We had our first specialist appointment yesterday. Your grandma went with me so she could see you both. It was a really good appointment. The doctor is really nice and the ultrasound technician was great. She did a level 4 u/s on you which basically is a really in depth look at you, your home for the time being, how you’re growing, measuring your brain, stomach, legs, arms, and anything else you would let her measure. She measured your heartbeats, Baby A was 155 and Baby B was 153, both strong, nice heartbeats. You both measure 5 inches long, 4 ounces and 15 weeks 1 day which is a couple of days ahead of your true age so you must like all of the sweets and chocolate I feed you. =) The best part of the entire ultrasound, other than watching you on “Baby TV” which is always a great experience was we finally know what you both are!!!!!! The anticipation was killing your dad and me. I promised your dad that he would be the first to know since he couldn’t actually make the appointment this time. We decided to have the technician put the results in an envelope and open it together. Of course your grandma tried to peek while the tech was scoping out your secret parts, but I made her cover her eyes. After the appointment I knew there was NO WAY I was waiting until your dad got home from work to open the envelope so I took a little trip to his work and we opened the envelope together.
*Drum roll*
Baby A is a GIRL and Baby B is a BOY. If you look back a couple of entries you’ll see this was my guess even though deep down I just knew you were both boys because I wanted a girl so badly. Lucky for us you are both perfect and we now have a son and daughter. As you know we already have your names picked out so I’ll just finalize them here. Our little beautiful Baby A daughter – Shenzie Weather Echo Barr. And our studly, rough tough Baby B son – Heaten Grey Myrick Barr. Wow, you have names. It still feels kind of weird to think of you with names. Let the shopping begin! This afternoon I ordered the first of many baby items. I won a bid on Ebay for your crib bedding. It is beautiful dragonflies – green and yellow and cream. Soon I’ll start to hound your dad to paint your room and bathroom and start setting it up. How exciting (for one of us anyhow). We are very happy and blessed and can’t wait to see you both!
