Dear Little Clammies,

We are now in our third trimester - Thank Goodness!!! While I do love being pregnant and feeling you both move, kick, and beat each other up, I’m ready (oh so ready) to be done. The list of complaints is a mile long starting with not enough sleep (I’m up every hour like clockwork to do the dreaded pee dance) to big, fat swollen feet that your poor dad rubs for me every night, sore back, growing pains, acid reflux. You name it, I have it. Your cousin Alexee and oh so evil Auntie Kristy quack and me when I walk since the waddle is now in full effect.

Your dad and I had what was probably one of our last dates last weekend. He took me to PF Changs (YUM), but by the time we left I was feeling a little miserable. The days of me leaving the house for anything other than doctors appointments are quickly coming to an end.

We had our growth ultrasound this morning. Shenzie was moving quite a bit, but the doctor said Heaten was twice as active. The funny thing is I couldn’t feel anything when Heaten was moving. It must be the position he is laying in and the placenta blocking me from feeling it. You are both still head down, which most likely will continue since you’ve been that way for about 10 weeks. Shenzie is 2 pounds 10 ounces and Heaten is 3 pounds 1 ounce. There is some concern over Shenzie being so much smaller, you are 14% smaller than Heaten at this point. The doctor said if it gets to be 20 -25 % less then it will be a much bigger concern. Heaten is in the 50th percentile for growth and weight while Shenzie is only in the 10th percentile. I now go for 2x weekly monitoring to make sure you are both doing well and your heart rate stays consistant through movement and contractions. I had high hopes you would both stay cooking until 37 weeks, but I’m beginning to think that its going to be sooner. I’m still holding out for 35-36 weeks so we shall see. Your dad and I are putting the finishing touches on the nursery this weekend and getting things together in the event it happens sooner rather than later. We can’t wait to meet you both!!!!

We love you Clammies!!

You know you’re pregnant when:

 • While cooking dinner you lean over the stove top and catch a HUGE portion of your hair on fire. You smell the burning and think “Oh no, I hope I didn’t burn my dinner” and then you look down and see actual FLAMES on your head! Guess I can’t put off getting my hair trimmed any longer since the front half is now a smelly, burned to a crisp, mess.

You know you are pregnant when:

 • You feel the need to take a picture of one of the few times you actually get dressed and are wearing something other than Jeff’s t-shirt and boxers.

• You Waddle when you walk

• You get all dressed up to go to your doctor’s appointment (and even straighten your hair) only to find upon getting to the doctor you forgot to change your shoes and are still wearing your bright turquoise slippers.

• You get up every 1 1/2 hours all night to pee. The kicker is you really have to pee, but for some reason you can’t so you spend the next 10 minutes doing to “Pee Dance”, the “Pee Sway”, and the “Pee Bend” all for the tiny tinkle tinkle that felt like so much more.

• You tear up at a hardcore music video when the pregnant mom gets hit by a car and dies.

• Your belly looks like this.

We love you momma! Thank you for everything you do for us - all the sacrifices, all the aches and pains, all the problems you don’t tell Daddy about because you know it would worry him. Thank you for doing so much to keep us happy and healthy.

The Good:  Another week of couch rest past and we survived!!!! Only 10 or so more to go! Whoohoooo. This morning I felt Heaten have the hiccups for the first time, very cool.

The Bad: 10 more weeks or so of couch rest. Boring!! Please come visit me so I don’t lose my mind!!! Things are getting a little uncomfortable with the belly. We measured 33 weeks last OB visit and I’m sure this week will be even more! If there was a game for biggest belly at 26 weeks I would surely win!! And we all know I LOVE to win.

The Ugly:  Tests came back for Gestational Diabetes and I am the winner!!! So 10 lonnnng weeks of couch rest with no M&M’s or ice cream. Could the torture get any worse?!?!

Week 26

Pregnancy02 Aug 2006 05:21 pm

Hi!

Long time no post. It’s been a busy, stressed, tired couple of weeks. Almost two weeks ago I started having contractions that have progressively gotten worse. We went from 5 a day to 15-20 a day. Both our OB and Perinatologist recommended quitting work and staying off my feet as much as possible. They put me on sort of a modified bedrest where if I’m home I’m lying down. No huge outings, no more fun. =( Quitting work so soon was unexpected, but now I’m grateful. I’m so tired and worn out all of the time it’s insane. I don’t sleep at night anymore so I try to take naps every day. The second piece of bad news came this morning when I found out I failed my glucose test for Gestational Diabetes. I have a three hour test this Friday, if I fail again goodbye sugar and carbs. Can I just cry now. The only good things about lying on the couch all day are the M&M’s and Cold Stone ice cream. Luckily these babies are all worth it!!

On a positive note the babies are doing wonderful. Still kicking and rolling up a storm in there. On August 1st at 25 weeks 3 days Shenzie weighed 1 pound 11 ounces and Heaten weighed 1 pound 13 ounces. The doctor said they are right on track and growing well. Shenzie had the hiccups at the ultrasound which was really fun to see. Heaten just kept doing rolls the entire time. If the parties in my belly are any indication of what’s to come Jeff and I are in for a world of trouble!

Jeff also talked us into getting a bigger, safer car for the babies. Out with the Honda CR-V in with the 2006 Ford Explorer. And my oh my, what a difference it makes. It feels like a little piece of driving heaven, not to mention much, much safer. If I would have known how great a new car was I wouldn’t have argued for keeping the old car. Silly me.

My work threw me a going away party this week and got us the Twins Pack and Play - Yay. It was bittersweet leaving, but I’m glad I’m able to be a stay at home mom for a couple of years to these little clams. Thank you to Tina who has been such a great support.

Last, but certainly not least can I just say I have the best husband in the whole world. Jeff has been so supportive and amazing and wonderful.  He is going to be a great daddy and is an even better husband. The babies and I are very, very lucky. Thank you baby, I love you.
