The third trimester of pregnancy is a cruel joke. They say that getting up every hour to pee is nature’s way of preparing you for the total lack of sleep you will get when the baby is born and that the last months of pregnancy are so miserable and uncomfortable it takes away the fear of child birth because anything is better than the misery you are now feeling. I am beginning to think it is all true. Mother nature is sick and twisted. There are many, many things I will not miss about being pregnant - most, if not all have surfaced this last trimester. The list goes something like this:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Swollen feet
  • Pregnancy induced Carpal Tunnel
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Peeing every 30 minutes
  • Walking up the stairs and having to rest when I get to the top
  • Carrying around 40 extra pounds
  • Itchy rash on my belly
  • Couch Arrest
  • Acid Reflux
  • Growing pains that feel like a knife is in my belly
  • The constant fear something bad is going to happen to the babies
  • Night sweats
  • Fred the pregnancy pillow
  • Snoring so loud it wakes up my deaf husband who sleeps like the dead
  • Stuffiness
  • Checking my blood sugars 4x a day
  • Maternity clothes
  • Did I mention couch arrest

And trust me, I could keep going and going just like the energizer bunny (only not is a sexual way since that was banned weeks and weeks and weeks ago)!

On the very good news front - Shenzie is growing! We had our growth scan last week and couldn’t have got better news. Her little belly caught up with the rest of her and she now weighs in at a whopping 4 pounds! Heaten the piglet weighs 4.7 pounds. The doctor was happy with the weights and growth so now it is just a waiting game. We have our next growth scan at 35 weeks on October 10th - by then they should be over 5 pounds each.  I still get monitored 2x a week and the perinatologist and see my OB 1x a week so they have all the bases covered. We got to pick our C-Section date (that is if we don’t go sooner and everything looks ok with the babies). Friday, October 13th, 2006 will hopefully be their birthday. Of course this has many a family member worried and thinking Jeff and I are just twisted, but that is nothing new. =) We will be 36 weeks at that point, three weeks from now. I’m still not convinced I will last that long, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. My OB said to be prepared to go to the hospital at every doctors appointment, so I packed my bag and I’m ready. I’m a little scared about the epidural and very scared about getting cut open. Hopefully the pain won’t be too bad. Drugs I say - give me the drugs!

And of course we can’t forget the belly shots.
