So today on Oprah ( I should probably stop saying I watch Oprah so much huh) they had an expert organizer/declutterer/cleaner dude who totally inspired me. Now I am on a mission.!
Yesterday I said I LOVE to organize and rearrange etc. EXCEPT for our “office”. My desk, scrapbook table, and closet are a HUGE disaster that I really intended to clean before the babies got here, but then bedrest hit and I wasn’t able to start the project. So now, during naptime I have given myself a pretty hefty list of things I want to clean/organize/get rid of over the next couple of months. Spring cleaning if you will. Here are the dreaded before photos of the office mess.

My scrapbook table which hasn’t been used in months due to limited time and crying babies. I need to make a zillion thank you cards and birthday cards not to mention I haven’t even thought of starting the babies scrapbooks. Sigh.

My desk - the spring cleaning needs to include organizing the 9000 some photos I have stored and backing them up to the external hard drive.

And lastly the HUGE stack of crap that needs filed. I HATE HATE HATE to file. Anybody want to come help? =)
Scary huh.
On a completely different subject - don’t you hate, hate, hate when you make coffee and the filter gets all bent up and covers the coffee and coffee grinds end up in your coffee and you accidentally drink it before you realize how gross it is going to taste and waste all that creamer only to have to dump out the coffee and start a new pot all the while the babies are whining to eat but you need your coffee to function and Oprah is starting and you’re missing it and you can’t pause the TV because we only have pause on the downstairs TV and the new coffee isn’t ready yet and when it finally gets done you try to pour more creamer into it and you realize the creamer ran out so you have to waste precious seconds opening a new one and forget to grab a mini twix to eat while drinking your new cup of coffee while the babies eat and you watch Oprah so you have to go back and get the mini twix or life as we know it will be over! Whew!
Ready for battle!
Jeff laughs at me because when I make the bottles for the night/day they HAVE to be lined up just like this in the fridge. Everytime I open the fridge I get a little giddy over my perfectly straight line of bottles. Yes, I am crazy - they remind me of a line of soldiers - ready for battle - the battle of the hungry, crying baby!

And if you know me, you know I LOVE to organize things (except my desk and scrapbook table which look like a tornado hit). Before the babies came I sat in their nursery and folded all of their little clothes. Heaten got the top drawer of the dresser so Shenzie got the top drawer of the stackable dresser in the closet. No favorites here! In the closet boy clothes on the left girls on the right. I told Jeff it was like Christmas - all of the tiny little clothes hung in their proper places! Does it get any better!?! Everyone laughed and said ‘Just wait - pretty soon all of the clothes will just be thrown in the drawers with no rhyme or reason’. Hahahah, I sure showed them. Everything is just as neat and tidy as it was before the babies got here.

Always the planner, we haven’t even started solids yet, but I am ready! You can imagine my giddiness when I came home with their first solids. I made room in the pantry and lined them up all nice and pretty. Although looking at the picture I wish the greens were with the greens and the oranges with the oranges, but whatever. At least this way I won’t get them confused with one another.
Dear Little Pickleheads,
Last month was indeed the “magic month”. You are now into more of a schedule, going from eating every 3 hours to every 4 hours (which is like Christmas everyday). I now have time to brush my teeth, and my hair! And I even managed to read two books this month. Not much considering I used to average 6+ a month, but I’ll take what I can get.

You both found your hands, you love to suck on them all of them time. You suck so hard you actually make slurping sounds. One day you two little beauties are going to give some good hickeys! Since Shenzie is not allowed to date until she is 25 (per daddy) I guess she’ll have to wait awhile to experience hickeyness!

Little Heaten,
You are getting so big! When we first brought you home from the hospital you would lie on my chest and your little legs would hardly reach my belly button - now you have just about outgrown me. (Not too hard to do since apparently I’m a midget).
Rocking your ‘toque’ like a gangsta!
You are so adorable I want to eat you up! I’m sorry to say that you lost your hair. It seemed like one day it was there and the next it wasn’t. Your daddy was very upset you lost it all - now you look just like him!

This month you also learned how to grab, hit, and hold your toys. You used to lie under the activity mat and stare into space - now you love play time. You get under there and hit the animals, grab them, kick them, and smile the whole time. It is the cutest thing. I put you in the jumparoo for the first time the other day - I’m not quite sure you knew what to make of it, but soon you’ll be bouncing up and down laughing and I can’t wait! You had your first giggle on January 23, 2006, but only do it under very special circumstances. I don’t know what those circumstances are, so feel free to tell me so I can hear it more. I could listen to you giggle all day long and never get sick of it.
You also learned that when you scream, mom comes running. You and your sister both like this game. You scream, I come running praying you don’t wake your sister before I get there, I put your paci back in, you smile at me and then spit it right back out and start screaming again. We do this over, and over, and over many times a day. I’m glad I amuse you so much, but I’m sure you can think of a better game to play.

You are so funny when you are going to sleep. You fight it and fight it until your little eyes just can’t stay open anymore. You throw your head from side to side - I call it your “Stevie Wonder” and when you find the perfect spot you let out a little sigh and are asleep like an Angel. I think you are going to be a morning person. First thing in the morning you give me the biggest, happiest smile. It melts my heart every single time - good thing too since mommy HATES the morning…especially 5:00am which is your new wakeup time.
I love you little man, more and more each day.
Shenzie Bear,
My little rootin’ tootin’ mamahead! Your nickname around here is Tootie Bootie - I’m sure you can guess why. =) You are the cutest little girl I ever saw and your cheeks are so round I just want to kiss them all day!

You had your first giggle on January 27, 2006 and today you giggled for daddy like a maniac. Your little eyes light up and you get all excited when you see your daddy, it is so cute. You follow me around the room with your eyes, and most days cry if I leave you. That is only cute the first couple of times, then it’s not so cute.

You are finally starting to play with your toys. You also love to watch your brother hit and kick the activity mat animals. Pretty soon you’re both going to be too big to fit under there. Good thing we have not one but two jumparoo’s, two exercise saucers, and two bouncy chairs. Double the mess!
You also LOVE to watch the TV. Anytime the TV is on you are watching it. You watch it everyday during ‘tummy time’. You can’t get enough. Once again this is cute now, but probably won’t be so cute when you whine because I won’t let you watch anymore TV.
Shenzie watching TV.
I started re-swaddling you and your brother to help you sleep better. You both look like little Glo Worms - but lately you scream if I swaddle you tight. It is a delicate process - you have to be swaddled just right, not too tight, not too loose.

Next week you go to the Doctor for your four month exam. You have to get shots again which is not fun. We will be starting solids this month and I’m so very scared. I have feeding you both down to 20 minutes, I can only imagine the time and mess starting solids is going to be. Just when things get easier they get hard again. Such is being a mommy and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the whole wide world!

I love you Shenzie Weather…..forever and always.
Let me just say it is VERY hard to find newborn baby clothes that are black. Well worth the effort though since they are so cute!
