Gee - I wonder who is going to be the tie breaker. Bwahahahahah. (Totally laughing out of love). =)
“They” take all of the fun away! I mean really, I wouldn’t have bought the Snugli or Hip Hammock if I knew all I could do was sit, walk, or stand. I don’t know why these “they” are, but they are totally boring! Their Warning Label:
“This carrier is designed for use by adults while sitting, standing, or walking. It should NOT be used while sleeping, running, skiing, biking, riding horses/motorized vehicles or doing household chores….”
I’m SO glad I read that label. I was all ready to head up the mountain for a little snowboarding. Now I realize that snowboarding was not listed specifically on the label so it might be alright, but I guess I better be safe rather than sorry. So much for my big plans….Shenzie was going in the Hip Hammock since she has better head control and Heaten could go in the Snugli faced around back like a backpack. The only problem was going to be the chair lift….but I figured he is just about old enough to sit in it on his own, so no worries.

That whole idea of “sleeping like a baby” must mean something else in our house. If “sleeping like a baby” actually means not sleeping at all, then I totally get it!
Tips on how to get babies to sleep at night.
¤ Pad a room in your house so you can just let the baby cry and not have to hear it.
¤ Put about half a shot of Jack Daniels in their nighttime bottle.
¤ Give them Baby Unisom. What?!?!?! You’ve never heard of Baby Unisom? Dosages are as follows:
¤0-3 months - Just a sliver ¤3-6 months - Quarter of a Quarter ¤6-9 months - Quarter of pill ¤9-12 months - half a pill
¤ Tape the binky to their mouth so it can’t fall out. Waking up 8x a night to replace binky solved!
¤ Drink a lot, and I mean A LOT so you can just pass out and not worry if the babies are waking or not.
Good Luck!

*Disclaimer. None of these methods were ever used in our house….just wishful thinking!!
I just realized that I have had this site for a year on March 3rd. My, oh my how things have changed. Not only do we have two insanely cute and crazy babies, but a crazy mom as well!!!
Happy One Year Anniversary to me!!!

Thank you to my wonderful husband for redesigning my site. <3
Dear Shenzie and Heaten,
There is a future outside of Babyville and I’m starting to see it, and let me tell you…I like what I see! Infantland here we come!! This month has brought so many new things…you are the gifts that just keep giving. You both have grown and changed so much from when you were born it is unbelievable.

Heaten aka Pumpkinhead,
You are absolutely the happiest baby on the block. You go to bed with a smile and wake with a smile. Don’t get me wrong, you also have a wicked temper…but for the most part you are my jolly little fellow. You learned so much this month.

You found your tongue. When your cousin Alexee was little she would always have her tongue out so we called her ‘turtle tongue’. Guess who has that nickname now? You are constantly sticking it out, swirling it around, drooling around it, and in general having a grand old time. You have also started the hand to mouth phase. You love to put objects in your mouth and I know it will get much, much worse before it gets better. It is another of those things that seems cute now, but won’t be cute for long.

Let’s talk about your temper. Lil’ man, you have a temper like a mad man. You scream…and I mean SCREAM when you don’t want something. Need burped…nope, you don’t want it - SCREAM, dirty diaper…nope, you don’t want it - SCREAM, tummy time…nope, you don’t want it - SCREAM. You see the pattern here. You scream for about 45 seconds and then it’s all smiles again. I’m hoping this is just a phase and will pass and that you didn’t get the stubborn gene from mama. That would be bad, very bad.

At the beginning of the month you loved your activity mat. Then you went through some weird phase where you would cry if I put you under it. You now love it again and are grasping toys with both hands. You went from just lying under the mat to kicking the toys, to swatting the toys, to holding the toys, to grabbing and holding the toys and brining them to your mouth. So much progress for one month! You tolerate tummy time for a bit, but have absolutely NO interest in rolliing over or scooting. Your sister totally beat you on this one since she is rolling over daily.

You don’t have a pediatrician appointment this month so I don’t know your exact weight, but according to our scale you are about 16 1/2 pounds. Holy moly! You have almost outgrown your 3-6 month clothes…moving on to 6-9 months. You are getting very heavy for me to carry you in your carseat. You plus carseat is like 30 pounds or more.

You still do the “Stevie Wonder” to get to sleep. You actually like to hang out in your crib. Your own little space I guess. At nap time I put you in there with your mitts, your binky, and your mobile. You lay there watching your mobile just talking away..sometimes for up to 45 minutes. When you start to fuss I go in and put your binky back in, you rub your eyes, throw your head back and forth, kick your legs up and drop them back down hard…this goes on for a couple of minutes and then you just drop your hands and are fast asleep. You sleep so darn cute..I just want to wake you and play with you. This month we stopped swaddling you and your sister. You would break out of it every night and it was such a hassle that we stopped. You didn’t have any trouble with the transition.

You are getting quite the “vocabulary” on you. You went from one sound to many, many different sounds, tones, gurgles, giggles, and squeals. In the morning when you wake up you lay in your crib talking to yourself. I can’t wait for you and Shenzie to be able to talk to each other in the mornings. Listening to you on the monitor cracks me up.

Last month your pediatrician gave us the green light for rice cereal. We tried it and you HATED it. You cried and spit it out. That was that, no more solids for you just yet. Yesterday we started solids again. WOW, what a difference a couple of weeks made. You LOVE them. I cheated and gave you rice cereal mixed with prunes. (Sorry your first food had to be prunes, your sister is in need of them for reasons we won’t mention). You loved the prunes. You couldn’t get enough. You smiled, wriggled in your high chair, grunted for more and ate your whole bowl. It was so fun to feed you…quite messy, but still fun.

Little boy, you are growing up so fast and I love every single minute I get to spend with you (minus the middle of the night screamfests). I cannot wait to see what each day brings - it is such a joy to watch you learn new things.
I love you!
Shenzie, aka Picklehead,
My little roly poly. You are round, chunky, and yummy to my tummy. This month you are a whopping 15 pounds of pure doughy delight!

You are a rolling machine. On February 24th you rolled over and since that day you WILL NOT stay on your tummy for tummy time. I lay you down and you immediately roll right over. I tried to outsmart you and placed a rolled up blanket on the side you roll to but you were having none of it…you just rolled the other way! You also can sit up (for a very, very short time) on your own and today I held you on my hip! There are a few things I am looking forward to…you guys holding your own bottles, you sitting up on your own so I can quit burping you, and holding you on my hip with one arm so I can use the other to do the gazillion things that need done. We are well on our way there! Goodbye babyville, hello Infantland.

You also found your tongue recently, but have not yet realized how much it can do. You just kind of peek it out. Pretty soon you’ll find that it can swirl, and twirl, and blow bubbles!

You love your brother. You just stare at him when he is lying next to you. You always grab for his shirt or hand or whatever is closest to you. It is so cute. Today he punched you in the face which you didn’t really care for. Ahh, the days of beating each other up are coming soon. If you are anything like me and your Uncle Daniel then I have no worries for you. We’ll save the many tales of me trying to beat Daniel up for another day.

Sleep. Ahhhhh, sweet, sweet sleep. Will I ever sleep a full night again? Your brother is becoming a champion sleeper and napper. He is very predictable and sleeps from 8pm until about 5:30ish. You on the other hand are like your daddy and don’t need much sleep. Well, you think you don’t need it, but Mommy says you do or you are not a very pleasant baby. You get so tired that you just can’t sleep and then you scream. And let me tell you, at 2am this is NOT CUTE. Last night we had a bad night and you were up from 1am until after 2, at 4:45 until 6:20 and you cried and screamed for pretty much all of it. On the upside you did nap rather well today so I suppose it is a tradeoff. Youprefer to sleep on your side and you have a new sleep buddy that you cuddle. So, so precious.

You still like the activity mat and you like your Bumbo chair for short periods of time. You are so strong that when you want out and I don’t get to you soon enough you arch your back and push yourself up. Pretty soon you are going to be able to get out of that thing. They say it is from like 3+ months to 9 months, but not for my little Houdini.

When we started solids the first time you ate them with no problems, this time not so much. You made the worst face and gagged. Poor little girl…guess the prunes aren’t that good after all.

You are getting much more expressive and sit and ‘talk’ to yourself endlessly. You also love to laugh at nothing. I dance, I sing silly songs, I tickle you and nothing. Then out of nowhere you just start to giggle like you remember a funny joke or something. You make me laugh every single day, thank you little pickle!
I love you baby girl!
