My favorite pastime is reading. I try to sneak in words whenever I get a chance. Recently I’ve been trying new authors. I read The Handmaiden’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and LOVED it so I read Alias Grace. While it was well written, it didn’t grab me the way The Handmaiden’s Tale did. I also started reading Jodi Picoult. I read The Tenth Circle which I loved, Perfect Match which was really good, and I just finished My Sister’s Keeper. All I can say is wow. I’m not a big crier. I really dislike crying and will give myself headaches holding the tears in. This book brought me to tears. If you haven’t read it I highly recommend it.
Below is the list of books I’ve read this year with my handy dandy star system to rate them.

It looks as if Heaten is going to be a fan of reading as well. He loves to play with books…and by play I mean beat on them with his giant paw sized hands.

Jeff is reading the babies the Chronicles of Narnia. No cows jumping over the moons here.

I just printed your list.. I will e-mail a couple more that you should check out. I think they are right up your alley, if you haven’t already read them. Right now I’m reading a book by David Sedaris called, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. It’s pretty funny, but when I’m done I’ll be needing something else, so thank you for your list. It will come in handy.

I really like The Handmaid’s Tale. I used that in an AP Enlish class and it grabbed the
students and was one of the most successful “modern” books I used.
I read My Sister’s Keeper on a plane 2 years ago and jusr bawled. The ending was
such a shocker. I gave it to my mother and hooker HER on Jodi Picault.
Right now I am so frequently tired I am reading nothing but total trash.

I give all of your credit for having the energy and time
to read! I fall into bed at night of sheer exhaustion.

So after I read this post I went out and bought that Jodi Picoult book that you recommended, My Sister’s Keeper. I started it Sunday and finished it last night. I loved it. Thank you. It was absolutely wonderful. I’m now just planning on moving down your list.
