Now that I stay at home with the crazies I am spending WAY too much money. I have to take them out daily so they don’t get bored and I’m finding it hard to come up with things to do every…single…day. It is getting cooler so we can go to parks and other outdoor things, but lets face it, shopping is so much more fun than walking babies around a park. Maybe if they were walking and playing on toys parks would be more fun…but basically is it me pulling them in the wagon or pushing them in the stroller around and around the park. Fun? Not so much. Shopping on the other hand….fun!
Where do you take your kiddos so they don’t get bored? What kinds of fun things do you do? I have about 2 hours to kill in the late afternoon before dinner…help!!

This is what happens if we stay home and get bored.

Man, I’m in the exact same boat. Way too many cashiers at our neighborhood Target know us. By name. Babies staying in stroller and under control in any weather = shopping = spending money. Let me know if you come up with any brilliant solutions to this one!

Well, you’ll find that as they get older, Lesley, that they once they are walking it
gets challenging to keep them happy in it for longer periods of time. Then, they’ll
drop that lovely morning nap and the real fun of being cooped up begins.
Pet stores are great … unless you like to buy pets. Then don’t go there. But, my
girls like to look at the fish and birds.
I learned that not bringing any money or credit cards to stores is a great way to
get out but not spend.
We like to go to the hardware store, too. I never have enough time to stop and shop in there
Otherwise, I”m sure they love those stroller walks. Enjoy them. My girls have been
duking it out in the stroller for the last two months, making our lovely walks not as
lovely.

Try story time at the library. I take my girls to the petting farms quite a
bit but there is a small charge. Parks are always a favorite cause they
run like little maniacs! Also the mall. I let them run free and wild. lol.
I even let them play at the dreaded germ fest. Trust me, they are tired and
ready for bed….

Do they still have that play place at the Meadows Mall? A few years ago they had one for toddlers and younger. I don’t think it cost anything. It had animals to climb on, tubes to crawl through, and an area for the Moms to sit. It was really nice, and if you could go in the day time then you would miss the bigger kids that ruin it for all the little explorers.

Before they become mobile is a perfect time to scope out every park and mall playground. We have tons of parks with sand and wood chips, which they could use before they learned to walk. I took them to every mall in our area to see when the appropriate age for the mall playground would be.
I agree with Shawn, enjoy the stroller rides while you can… soon enough they will not want to be in the stroller at any cost. We have to bribe them with Cheerios to make through a store nowadays.

Grud I just hit the wrong button and lost my comment. What I was going to say was that since my two have begun walking they don’t seem as bored at home, if we do go somewhere they won’t ride in the stroller too long before they want to get out and walk. We do take daily walks usually in the morinign and that helps sometimes we just go for a drive.

I have no suggestions either because I feel like we are in the same boat. Just wanted to say I know how you feel…some days are fun others are NOT!

I was hoping for more suggestions in your comments because I am in the same boat!
So far:
parks
petting zoo
science center (a fee)
walks
I keep meaning to look into indoor playscapes for the winter.
