This entire walking business is quite the entertainment. Long before Heaten was even crawling Shenzie was pulling up and cruising around on furniture. I thought for sure she would walk first. But then, as usual Heaten, he came zooming by and took his first unassisted steps leaving Shenzie in the dust. For over a month now they have been cruising around and taking a couple of steps from furniture to furniture and Heaten occasionally would walk across a room. There was no doubt in my mind Heaten would walk first. He is much braver at letting go. Shenzie would get scared and sink to her butt if she didn’t have something close by to hang onto. Imagine my surprise when out of nowhere this happened:
(Sorry for no sound, I broke something and don’t care to fix it just yet)
The funniest thing is she always goes to that same corner by the door to pull up and begin her walking adventures. That first night she must have crawled back to that corner 20 times. Since then she has branched out and will walk from just about anywhere…whooweee…now the fun really begins.
***Edited to add:
Excuse the playroom mess….I don’t notice the toys scattered everywhere and the laundry piled up but seeing it on here makes me look like a slob..really, I’m not all that slobby…it’s all the babies fault!

What a speedster! That is so cute. Shenzie has the robot walk with her arms out in
front. Then, I thought, no wonder! She knew Heaten was planning to saboutage her
trip. I loved the way he just fell in front of her………..then scooted away with his head on
the floor.
Love you all and miss you, but thanks to you, Leslie, we get to see some of the good s
stuff.

Wow! Great to see her, she looks so steady. Amazing that it happened so fast.
Maybe my S. will do the same. Right now she doesn’t seem that interested.
Love your cribs, and how low they are. Seems like if/when someone climbs out,
they at least don’t have far to fall.

She is moving fast… I don’t remember seeing her walking at all on Friday. Too too cute!!!!

She looks so proud of herself!! I remember my Grandpa used to say for the first two years you teach your children how to walk and talk and then for the next 16 you are trying to figure out how to make them shut up and sit down!! He had a saying for everything…I love how Heaten just happened to sit right in Shenzie’s way and the quick get away and keeping his hair way out of her reach.

That is crazy how good she is at walking so far!!! Alex and Nate took 2-3 steps before falling down and it took a long time before they could go the distance. You are definitely going to be busy now but what independence!

Go Shenzie! Go Heaten! You know what? You’re going to have much happier babies now that they can walk. Mine were, anyway. They even started sleeping better once they overcame the learning-to-walk hurdle. Enjoy!

Hilarious! She’s been secretly practicing at night after everyone goes to bed!
Fiona had on those same jammies this morning. I love Heaten’s forehead crawl. And I didn’t see any mess!
slob.
