Remember when she got a bloody nose? This is why. Every morning, all day, and every night before bed (great way to tire her out) she plays what I call “Runny Runny”. She will now do Runny Runny on demand. Poor Heaten REALLY tries to keep up, but she is just too fast! She never sits still that little Shenzie Buggle.

Flash Back Edition:

One year ago. Truly amazing how things change in one short year.

The babies had their first popsicles last week during our heat wave. They LOVED them. I put Apple Juicy Juice in the water bottle ice trays with sticks and froze them. This week I’m going to try freezing a smoothie blend into popsicles since we are now officially into summer.

We had a great Memorial Day weekend full of great weather, park play, sleeping in, and yummy food. On Monday we took the babies to the Springs Preserve since we’d never been and the weather was perfect. It was nice, but the layout was kind of confusing. The babies did great in their stroller as we wandered around looking at all the plants and such.

We then headed to Red Robin for dinner. We don’t usually eat out with the babies since we don’t really get to eat while out with them. It used to be that we would go to a restaurant, sit down, and then spend the entire time dealing with crabby babies. We barely got to touch our food let alone carry on a conversation. I am so glad to say that I think those days are behind us!!!! We did do some entertaining before the food arrived, but after that it was easy facheesy. The babies both ate so good (I wasn’t worried about Shenzie since she isn’t so picky). Heaten ate oranges! With a fork! He NEVER eats oranges. Of course Shenzie refused them. They had french fries and pizza. And! Jeff and I were able to eat our entire dinners while sitting at the restaurant! That hasn’t happened since the babies were newborns. It was great.

The lowlight of the weekend came Monday night when Shenzie had a big accident. Her favorite game is Runny Runny. She LOVES to run back and forth from her bedroom to our bedroom and then back. She is very fast at everything she does and running is no exception. While playing runny runny we heard a HUGE crash and then of course hysterical crying. Poor little girl did Superman right on a wood box and got a bloody nose and fat lip. Thank goodness Jeff was home or I would have freaked out! The amount of blood pouring from her tiny nose wasn’t a crazy amount, but it was still quite a bit. She is a tough cookie though. She went to bed and slept through the night without a peep of pain and woke up the next day happy as could be.

This picture doesn’t look nearly as bad as it was, but I was too freaked out to get a better picture of all the blood.

Even though the babies are the same age and twins they are so vastly different. Shenzie is the mover and shaker while Heaten is my little cuddle bug. He is always content to sit in my lap with his feet kicked up. I love how different they are. I see so much of myself in Shenzie and so much of Jeff in Heaten. Shenzie is super hyper, super fast, super everything. Heaten is much slower, sweeter, and more content to just sit.

Shenzie - Hates drinking milk from a sippy.
Heaten - LOVES milk and wants to drink it all day.

Shenzie - Will pretty much eat anything. She has a VERY big appetite.
Heaten - A very picky eater. One day he’ll love something and the next he won’t touch it with a ten foot pole.

Shenzie - Loves to runny runny. Her favorite game is running back and forth while yelling.
Heaten - Toddles after her very slowly all the while copying her yell.

Shenzie - Only wants to be held and cuddled when SHE wants it. Would rather be running, spinning, and playing.
Heaten - Loves to be held. Will cuddle anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

Shenzie - Does everything for attention. While playing she constantly looks up to make sure I’m watching and then does something silly to make me laugh.
Heaten - Content to play on his own doing his own thing.

Shenzie - Tough little cookie. Rarely cries when she falls down and goes bonk.
Heaten - Kind of a cry baby. Cries over the littlest bumps. If he falls down on his butt and isn’t hurt in the least he will still cry about it.

They are so fun at this age. So full of energy, life, and laughs. I love babies, but I love toddlers even more!!!

He sat playing with the buckles for like 20 minutes!

Dear Shenzie and Heaten,

There is nowhere else I would rather be than home with you watching you grow, caring for you, and helping you learn. Nothing makes me happier than waking up in the morning and seeing your smiling, beautiful faces. Nothing makes me happier than putting you to bed at night and watching you sleep. Sometimes the days seem never ending and yet the time still passes so quickly. I cherish every moment we spend together and love you more than I could ever tell you.

Love forever,
Your Mama

A heat wave with temperatures of 107 or 50 mile an hour winds? I can’t decide, but I’m leaning towards the 107 degrees which doesn’t bode well for the coming months.

These past couple of weeks we’ve been really busy getting our teeny tiny yard done, our garage organized, and our house de-cluttered. We donated bags, boxes, and piles of stuff to Big Brother’s Big Sister’s. How in the world does so much unnecessary crap get accumulated? Even after giving away a lot of stuff we still have way too much!

We had our garage floor done with Epoxy and I love it! It not only looks much nicer, it is also so much easier to clean. The babies LOVE to play in the garage. As a matter of fact they would rather play in the garage then out back with their new sandbox, go figure.

We got them a play/slide/thingy for out back. I’m hoping this will keep them entertained for many, many hours this summer (wishful thinking on my part). Although with the 110+ temperatures we get in the summer I’m sure we’ll stay locked inside with the cool air conditioner.
