A couple of weeks ago we joined our playgroup at the Pump It Up Bounce place. I have never been so I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the facility and after the initial scared from Shenzie and Heaten they had a blast. The slides were a bit much for me to handle with both of them, but the bounce houses themselves were super fun. They had a great time climbing, rolling, bouncing, running, and yelling as you can see from the photos.

Minus a few blips the whole potty training thing is going awesome. Shenzie is fully day trained (as has been since July). She wakes up from most naps dry, but still wears a diaper for naps and bedtime. Heaten is doing great in the pee department. He goes pee A LOT but I can’t complain since he tells me in time to get to the potty. Number two is still an issue (meaning he won’t go in the potty), but at least he is now going in his diaper and not holding it for days. The downside to Heaten’s potty training is waking up nightly between 3-5am to him screaming PEEPEE IN THE BIG POTTY. I get him up, he goes pp, and goes right back to bed which is great, it just sucks because then I’m awake for an hour (sleep issues for Mama). The plus side to this is when we night train he’ll already be trained. He wakes up 90% of the time from naps and night dry so our diaper usage has gone dramatically down. I do have to tell him they are special night time big boy diapers or he won’t wear them because as we all know “babies wear diapers” said with a sneer. He still loves his Cars Undies, but will now wear boxer briefs which are just about the cutest thing ever. Shenzie still loves her Hello Kitty undies. All is well in potty land.

I’m Lame and am Recycling These Images Edition:

While driving home from San Diego we saw this amazing double rainbow. It was my very first double rainbow sighting and oh my, it was beautiful.

As a side note, I’m REALLY surprised these photos turned out. The first photo was taken leaned over my two sisters from the side window in the backseat while zooming down the highway. The second photo was taken as I was leaning over the drivers seat (trying not to get in the way of the driver which would be BAD) in a vehicle going 80 miles and hour while shooting through the rained on windshield.

*Yes, I realize these were posted as my Foto Friday last week on my other blog, but I am tired, tired, stressed, tired, and did I say tired. The migraines that have been plaguing me for over 4 weeks are taking their toll tonight and I can’t come up with much else. I will say these images look MUCH better at my other blog since the photo size is much larger.

Lately Shenzie has been talking up a storm. Opposites are big at this time so multiple times a day this is our conversation:

Nenee has long hair, Heatnee has short hair.
Yes Shenzie, you have long hair and Heaten has short hair.

Nenee a big girl, Heatnee a baby.
Shenzie IS a big girl, and Heaten is a big boy.

Nenee grow up, Heatnee a baby, goes pp in a diaper - Ewww.
Yay! Shenzie goes pp in the potty and is a big girl. Pretty soon Heaten will go pp in the potty too.

Nenee has curly hair, Heatnee has straight hair. Daddy has no hair (heehee).
Shenzie has beautiful curly hair and Heaten has cool straight hair. Daddy has no hair (heehee).

Mama big, Nenee little.
Mama is tall and Shenzie is small.

Nenee grow up, not a baby.
Shenzie is Mama’s big girl. She is so pretty and smart and is all grown up. No more baby.

Babies are little, Nenee is big.
Shenzie is a big girl and doesn’t even cry like a baby anymore.

Nenee pretty.
Yes, Shenzie is very pretty.

Heatnee no pretty.
No, Heaten is cute.

Heaten then pipes in with “Mama pretty, Heatnee Cute”.

End. Repeat, over and over and over again. I LOVE it!

I really hope she loves her curly hair when she is older. Her hair when wet is down past her shoulders, but you would never know it with the amount of curl she has. I LOVE her beautiful curls, but OMG are they ever high maintenance!

I am quite surprised with how the whole potty training business went down at the old Casa de’ Barr. I was really REALLY dreading the whole potty training thing. Turns out the worry, dread, and crazy were totally unnecessary. I got off VERY lucky with Shenzie who pretty much trained herself in one day. She rarely has accidents and is fully day trained and wakes up most naps and mornings dry. She is still in a crib so I’m not worried over night training just yet. I knew Heaten was going to be a nightmare and OMG I was REALLY dreading it. Once again, my worry was over nothing. After months of watching Shenzie go potty he was showing zero interest so I didn’t push it. He never practiced on the potty and was pretty happy to let Shenzie have the limelight and candy.

Last week we went to visit Auntie Kristy and Cousins for a little swim day. I forgot our swim diapers so I stressed to Heaten to PLEASE tell me if he had to peepee and not go in the pool. I had little hopes he would actually do this, but surprise surprise he told me he had to go and to the rocks we went. Little boys have it made since they can pee just about anywhere. He peed in the rocks while I cheered him on. He was so happy and proud of himself, it was so cute! He peed once more in the rocks and once again we clapped and cheered.

The next morning he asked to go pee in the potty. I was shocked! I seriously wasn’t expecting this at all. He successfully peed in the potty (sitting down on the little ring insert) and was SO happy with himself. He picked out what undies he wanted to wear (Cars - Lighting McQueen of course) and that was that, he has been in big boy undies for 3 days now (days only). I will say boys pee A LOT different than girls. The little toilet ring insert was just not cutting it. He couldn’t get comfortable on the potty and the pee was dangerously close to squirting out all over me which really wouldn’t be funny. I asked if he would like to pee in the rocks again and he got this HUGE grin and went running for the door. The first day we spent a lot of time peeing in the rocks and grass. Of course Shenzie wanted in on the fun so she would spread her legs as wide as they would go and pee in the grass too. It was the biggest treat ever. Finally Daddy showed us the “real” way boys pee and life is good again. Heaten climbs up on the stool in front of the potty and goes pp like a big boy. Easy peasy. Of course I will be doing a daily clean of the toilet and surrounding floors, but OMG my son is on his way to being diaper free. This is HUGE. I mean HUGE HUGE! Three years of double duty diapers is enough to make anyone crazy. No more diapers makes Mama a happy camper!

My little man, all grown up. How I love this boy.

*As a side note he will NOT go #2 in the potty, or in his diaper, or in his undies so let me say that getting him to go has been interesting (and not in a good way). As an additional side note, getting up at 4am to Heaten yelling PP IN BIG POTTY, really sucks!
