For a few months now the twinzies have recognized the letters D for Daddy, H for Heaten, S for Shenzie, M for Mama, A, B, and C. Imagine my HUGE surprise when last month without ANY prompting from me Heaten wrote the letter H. We were at my parents (9.2.09) and Heaten was coloring on his paper. I look down and see this:

I was shocked. Sadly I have never practiced writing letters with the kids so the fact that he did this on his own was awesome. I was cheering, clapping, and jumping up and down. My Dad looked at me like I was crazy, but whatev., My (at that time) two year old could write an H!!

Later in the month (9.23.09) I found Shenzie at her chalkboard writing not only and H, but an S as well (the D is mine). It is a bit crooked, but OMG, I am so proud of my writing kids!!! I suppose this means I need to practice writing their letters since apparently they are ready. Bad, bad Mama!

I don’t know if you are planning to put the kiddos in pre-school but my boys really liked the Hooked on Phonics. On Amazon you can buy them from other sellers for $20 and it comes with workbooks, stickers, rewards charts, DVDs, etc. I bought one set for each kid so they could have their own workbooks.

Dang! My comment got eaten!
Not sure if you are planning to put the kiddos in preschool but my boys love the Hooked on Phonics set. You can buy them on Amazon from other sellers (other than Amazon) for $20 and it includes workbooks, sticker charts, stickers, DVD with games to play to go along with the lesson plans. I bought two sets so each kid could have their own workbooks and the boys have a lot of fun,
Anyway my boys learn all this at school but it’s good to reinforce at home and Nate is advanced so we’re building towards the more advanced Hooked on Phonics.
