One of the best things about having some down time and having Jeff home all day is the amount reading I am able to do. I love, love, love to read. One of my best childhood memories is from 3rd grade. Miss Day (I think that was her name) had a pj/pillow/reading day during class. We pushed all of our desks to the side of the class room and spent the day lounging on our pillows, in our pj’s, reading whatever we wanted. Pure heaven!!
I get asked a lot how I read so much. The answer is I read every chance I get. While the twinzies watch tv I read. While Jeff cleans the kitchen, I read. During the twiznies quiet time I read. Before Jeff and I veg out for out nightly tv I read. Before going to sleep I read. While the twinzies play outside I sit outside and pretend to watch them while in reality I’m reading. =) I probably should be doing more productive things with my time, but honestly, I just want to relax and read. It is only a matter of time before “real life” catches up to me and I have to work more so I’m enjoying this little break while I can.

I posted my 2010 January thru June listings last month. Since then I have read an additional 9.5 books. A few were really good (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven, Cut, Paste, Kill, and The Spellmans Strike Again). A few were mediocre (Blood Ties, An Offer you Can’t Refuse, and Caught). I am currently reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larson and ummmmm, help me out fellow readers. Nearly everyone I know has read this series and gave it super good reviews. I am on page 187 and am just not loving it. I am finding it hard to get immersed in the story. I don’t know anything about Sweden or the cities/towns described which makes the reading less desirable. I hate to start books and not finish them so I will muddle thru in hopes that it will get better, but so far, for me, it isn’t anywhere near the 3.96 average rating on Goodreads.
Anyone have any must reads for me to add to my list??

I felt the exact same way about the Stieg Larson books. The first one seems to drag on, bty the last one I was more interested. I didn’t rate them very high either, they where just ok to me too. I bought all three as a box set so I felt like I had to read them. It bugs me to no end to start a book and not finish it.
If you like vampires and stuff like that the Sookie Stackhouse series is pretty good. There are 10 in the series so far, that would give you lots of reading.

Oh also what do you do with all your old books? The ones I don’t love and am not going to read again I sell on a site called Half.com It’s part of ebay and I’ve sold a lot of my books on there. You won’t get full price, but at least you get something back instead of giving them away.

I didn’t really like Girl with Dragon Tattoo either. It gets REALLY violent toward th eens. I was ranting about that book to Jon, why does everyone love it? But then after the book, I couldn’t stop wondering what happened to the main character. The second book focuses so much moreon her and I liked that book about 10 times better than the first.
I was up until 1AM reading One Second Later. It is about what would happen if the USA were hit by an EMP attack. I love that kind of stuff though. Warning: forward is by Newt Gingrich. I skipped that part.

Hey if you ever wonder why I have terrible typos in my comments.
The text I type goes off the screen of your comment box.
So I am typing blind for about 15 characters and I know there are typos
but I can not see to fix them.

Laura C it does that to me too! That’s why I have typo’s as well. I though it was just me.

Hi Lesley! I’m the same way with books (although not as crafty with finding time to read, so I’m a bit slower than you!). But my idea of a perfect day is reading! I’m currently loving The 19th Wife (no, I’m not Mormon, but its very interesting!) and my other recent faves are I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb and The Girls by Lori Lansens (both about twins, hmmmm)

I loved it. Just sayin’. One of my favorite books… even watched the subtitled movie and loved that. I’ve enjoyed all 3 books. I’m sorry you didn’t. Didn’t that happen to us with The Road. I hated that retarded book and you guys liked it!
